As you could see, in the dashboard appeared a sub-menu in the Dashboard menu. The first command, named Dashboard overview leads to a well-known page with departments and devices.
The second command, Departments, will show a list of departments. Here you can see all departments in your account, delete empty departments and edit the name and timezone of the department. You can easily add a new department here. Continue reading article →
We added a new table under the list of departments – Disconnected devices. It consists of 3 columns.
The first one, named Disconnected devices, shows devices that have not sent any data for 2 and more days. It also shows how many days are missing.
We announce a beta version for Linux Red Hat. You can test it right now. Download it from the Staffcounter for Linux download page.
Note: Before installing the Staffcounter agent on Red Hat Linux, you have to change the display server protocol from Wayland to X11.

2. Login into Linux via GUI Login screen, as a normal user account (non-Admin) – Staffcounter should start, register the device in the dashboard and start monitoring.
3. Restart the PC, and log in as a normal user account – StaffCounter should continue work.
Microsoft continues its efforts to deliver the best cyber-security solution for Windows 10 and 11 by using cloud-based AI and machine learning. Keylogging, invisible working mode, and hidden installation are one of the features that make software potentially dangerous and support malicious misuse of the application. StaffCounter team will continue to respond to these changes and adapt features to continue the development of privacy-compliant Time-tracking services.
The provision of departments to other users for monitoring has changed. All settings for previously provided departments remain the same, but starting today, departments will be provided according to the new rules.
Let’s first define the terms. We will name the “director” the user, who is providing departments, and the user accepting departments for observation will be called a manager.
Meet the new version of the StaffCounter agent for Windows from February 1, 2022. The program has new settings and functions. For example, we have added the ability to stop recording outside business hours (scheduled), as well as a new experimental feature – monitoring mouse activity simulators.
What’s new:
New setting “Include mouse movers into idle time”
Mouse activity emulators are not new in the IT world. For years, unscrupulous workers have been using mouse activity emulators to hide their absence from the workplace or inactivity during work hours tracked by Microsoft Teams and time-tracking programs. But not all employers are willing to pay employees just for the fact that they have a cursor crawling across the screen. And since there are applications and hardware simulators that make the mouse “crawl”, there must be monitoring applications that will not take this activity into account. The new version of StaffCounter allows you to track the mouse activity emulator and include this time in the “Pause” section. Therefore, the absence of clicks, as well as the complete absence of activity on the keyboard, will not be counted as work.
