What Data Does StaffCounter Collect?
StaffCounter helps organizations improve productivity and accountability by collecting key activity data from employees’ devices. The exact information recorded depends on the operating system and selected system settings.
On Windows devices:
- Start time and duration of each application used;
- Total time spent in programs and on websites;
- Amount of text typed in each app or on websites;
- System events such as user logon/logoff, periods of inactivity, and connections/disconnections of external devices;
- Configurable periodic desktop screenshots;
- Optional webcam photo captured at the beginning of each work session.
On macOS devices:
- Start time and duration of each application used;
- Total time spent in programs and on websites;
- Amount of text typed in each app or on websites;
- System events such as user logon/logoff, idle time, and peripheral device activity;
- Configurable periodic desktop screenshots;
- Optional webcam photo taken at session start;
- Device GPS location (if enabled).
On Android devices:
- Start time and usage duration for each application;
- Total app usage time per day;
- Call logs including phone numbers, call direction, timestamps, and durations;
- SMS logs showing numbers, sent/received timestamps;
- GPS location tracking at regular intervals.
